The 2025 International Day of the Girl Child is held under the theme: “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis.” This year’s theme recognizes how girls around the world are stepping up to confront today’s biggest challenges from climate justice, ending violence and reimagining their futures. Yet too often, their voices and leadership go unheard.
In this webinar, Tinaye Lydia Muzenyi, researcher, educator, and founder of She STEMs Foundation, will explore what it means for girls to show up for themselves, build confidence in their identities and lead meaningful change in their communities and beyond. The session will also highlight the power of storytelling as a tool for advocacy and leadership, drawing on both global experiences and personal reflections.
Through presentation and discussion, participants will get to connect the global theme to practical lessons on self-leadership, resilience and amplifying girls’ voices.
The Big Sister Sessions are She STEMs Foundation’s flagship mentorship events designed to connect girls and women in STEM with experienced mentors and role models. Through interactive circles, storytelling and community building, participants gain guidance, inspiration and practical advice to help them thrive in their academic, professional and personal journeys.
